Man, is there loads of enjoyable things to do near Fox River Reservoir. People from Whitewater love to come to Fox River Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. Beaches are magnificent; and Wonder Center Beach near Fox River Reservoir is no exception, and a pleasant close by hotel is Hampton Inn McHenry. A lake close by is Wilderness       Lake, and if you need a site to stay Super 8 McHenry is a brilliant choice. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this site. Fox River Reservoir is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Pistakee Fishing Club is a glorious local campground, and Leatherleaf Bog is an exciting swamp close to Fox River Reservoir. During the months of summer at Fox River Reservoir temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the                  60's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Fox River Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Fox River Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Lake Defiance Trail, and a round of golf at nearby Mehenry Country Club is a tremendous way to kill some time. Fox River Reservoir is a good site of normal precipitation; the wettest month of the year is mostly July, that's the one that rains the most; the driest of the months is February. Gotta ski! Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) is a delightful place to do that. There's so much to do here at Fox River Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Fox Valley Camp Ground is a glorious place for that. Go for a hike on the Leather Leaf Bog Trail, and an out of the ordinary thing to go to near Fox River Reservoir is McHenry Lock and Dam.
