If you like lakes and you're in this part of Illinois you can check out Four Lakes. If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll have a thing about Four Lakes. A great place to camp here at Four Lakes is Empress Rv Resort, and you can hit the slopes at Four Lakes in close proximity. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at National at Amli at Seven Bridges, of course you could also explore Lambert Lake since you're here; it's not far at all.

in the vicinity of Four Lakes? Prince Lake is nearby, and hey, Prentiss Creek is a glorious local stream. High temperatures at Four Lakes during the warm days of summer are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in
the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Four Lakes. This lake is so wonderful. Marriott Hickory Ridge Conference Center is a good site to get some rest, and whitewater paddling is splendid on Fox River.

 | 1 PHOTO To inspect for log jams beneath the gravel pit access bridge directly east of Romeoville High School, you are allowed to drive up to, but not ACROSS the bridge, according to a security gaurd at the gravel pit. To check for log jams, I'd park BEFORE the bridge, and get out and walk across the bridge, looking over the railing. Also, there's a spot where you can walk up to the river edge. Facing east, it will be on your right, before the bridge. I'm uploading a photo dated April 12, 2002. It's a view of that bridge, taken from the water, looking southwest.... |

While it’s unclear whether the State will put ''trail closed'' signs up, there is no apparent money to maintain them and fallen trees, washouts, and other issues will undoubtedly happen. Fox River
 | 16 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
