Super 8 Pinckneyville is a good location to get some rest, and Elks Reservoir is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Sharp Rock Falls Rec is a tremendous local campground. Whohoo, so much amusing stuff in one place! Elks Reservoir is so good! You'll meet a lot of people from Carbondale here. This lake is so wonderful.       For you golfers we recommend nearby Red Hawk Country Club; camping at Shady Rest Campground is always a tremendous experience. At Elks Reservoir all through the long summer days highs are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's with temperatures at Elks Reservoir dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. The amount of rain that falls at Elks Reservoir is close to the                  national average; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain; January is when it's the driest.
