The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing), and you can go for a hike on the Fox River Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Crystal Lake; Lake Defiance Trail is a wonderful local trail; a scenic lake like South Lake is a magnificent spot to check out. There's whitewater on Fox River for all you adrenaline rush seekers, and the snow is brilliant

| | at Wilmot mountain. This lake is so wonderful. Buffalo Park Campground is a glorious campground nearby, and there are plenty of people from Whitewater here. The amount of precipitation that falls at Crystal Lake is close to the national average; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February. Good hiking is available along the Leather Leaf Bog Trail, and golf can be played at Crystal Lake Country | |

Club. Stay the night at Fox Valley Camp Ground; you'll find a stunning lake called Lake in the Hills Number 2. If you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites CHICAGO-ALGONQUIN is a nice choice. For the duration
of the warm months here at Crystal Lake, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 60's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 20's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Crystal Lake.
Just can't get enough of Crystal Lake. After a long day outdoors Super 8 Crystal Lake is a great site to spend a night or two, and you must unquestionably visit pretty Indian Trail Beach if you're here.

 | 19 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
