You can run the rapids of Fox River in close proximity to Crabtree Lake, and Lake of the Coves Dam is a charming place. The Lake Defiance Trail is a great hiking trail close to Crabtree Lake, and if you need a spot to stay Hoffman Estates Chicago Red Roof Inn is a wonderful choice. This lake is so wonderful. Very wonderful scenery and perfect skiing is what you get at Villa Olivia, and going for a hike on the Lake Defiance Nature Trail is always a good adventure.

| | Man, is there a load of amusing things to do next to Crabtree Lake. Fox Valley Camp Ground is a good campground nearby, and probably you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Lake of the Coves is just a very short distance away. Crabtree Lake gets a normal amount of yearly precipitation; June is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing) if you're here, and if you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Makray Memorial Golf Club is close by. A good nearby hotel is Candlewood Suites CHICAGO/HOFFMAN ESTATES, of course
you could also visit Hawley Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. E Z Go is a perfect local campground, and close by you locate the Fox River Trail which is a delightful hiking trail.

Fox River
 | 16 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
