Canteen Lake is a great location to camp, Granite City Koa Kampground is a great location, and the view of scenic Monks Mound is delightful. High temperatures at Canteen Lake through the summer are in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the period of the winter the highs are regularly in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Canteen Lake are in the 10's. Now, you may imagine that's       a lot but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Canteen Lake. Mississippi River is a delightful whitewater spot close to Canteen Lake, and why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Indian Mounds Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. Lakeside Camping is a fine campground here, and if you need a spot to stay Econo Lodge & Suites is a perfect choice. The yearly rain here at Canteen Lake is about average; the month of May is                  the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is January. Getting to Canteen Creek from Canteen Lake is easy; dry warm beds await you at Quality Inn & Suites.
