There are some splendid whitewater spots on Sangamon; lakes are such calm locations, why not explore Wyatt Pond. Stay the night at Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site Campground, and there are other sites here than Braun Pond, for example Lake Petersburg. While you're here at Braun Pond you can play some golf at Shambolee Golf Club. This is no site for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. Comfort Inn Springfield is a great place to get some rest,

Throughout the summertime months at Braun Pond temperatures are mostly in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 60's. Highs throughout the wintertime are frequently in the 30's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Braun Pond temperatures fall to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. a great spot to visit for more than one day, Deer Park Camp Ground is a great spot to camp nearby. From a rainfall point of view Braun Pond is a rather normal place; the wettest month of the year is frequently July, that's the one
that rains the most; the driest of the months is January.
If you need a spot to stay Riverbank Lodge is a nice choice, and let's not forget North Fork Richland Creek which is a stream that you may come across while you're here.

Leisure lake is a wondeerful place takin care of the fish in the lakes. The staff is very nice. My wife and I went on 6/19/09 and caught fish. Good luck fishing....I been fishing leisures lakes my entire life I'm 37 now and have always caught my limits on catfish. My entire family makes trips to the ponds. My biggest fish so far is a 30lb flathead, still hoping for all the 50plus pounds ones I have seen put in the ponds over the last 20 years and the good part is over 20lbs get put back in the ponds so everyone has a good chance to get the big one, most of what I catch is 3 to 8 lb. channel and flathead catfish. If you're looking for a great spot for a family fishing day, this is a place. You will always love. I hope it stays open for many more years to come. I look forward to taking my son there when he is old enough to fish. At least for now my son being 8 months old he gets to watch for now lol.... |
