A quick journey to East Branch Poplar Creek next to Bode Lakes is a great idea; lakes are such serene places, why not stop by Lake of the Coves. There's so much to do here at Bode Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Buffalo Park Campground is a delightful location for that, and for you golfers we recommend close by Streamwood Oaks Golf Club. | | a hike on the Lake Defiance Nature Trail is always a magnificent adventure. If you need a place to stay Hampton Inn Suites ChicagoHoffman Estates is a tremendous choice, and nearby you find the Lake Defiance Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. At Bode Lakes you always meet someone from Chicago-Naperville-Joliet; you can stay the night at E Z Go. during the wintertime are in the 20's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Bode Lakes. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Bode Lakes. Villa Olivia is a very popular ski area close by, and Barrington Road Pond is a splendid
lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing), and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for
you then, we recommend Fox River. The yearly rain here at Bode Lakes is about average; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. The Fox River Trail is a good hiking trail near Bode Lakes.

Fox River
 | 13 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |
