A visit to Bode Lakes is always a good idea. Enjoy a round of golf at Streamwood Oaks Golf Club not far from Bode Lakes, and dry warm beds await you at Candlewood Suites Chicago/Hoffman Estates, Il. This lake is so wonderful. You can never get enough of the good skiing at Raging Buffalo Snowboard Park (Snowboarding only - no skiing), and Buffalo Park Campground is a glorious local campground. Lakes are such serene spots, why not take a look at Barrington Road Pond next to Bode Lakes, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Villa Olivia if you're here. a pretty lake called Lake of the Coves near Bode Lakes, and if you came for an overnight stay E Z Go is a wonderful place to camp. Get covered with water paddling on Fox River, and close by you locate the Lake Defiance Nature
Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. High temperatures at Bode Lakes throughout the warm days of summer are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 60's. Through the winter highs are in the 20's with temperatures at
Bode Lakes dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. The yearly rain here at Bode Lakes is about average; most of the rain falls all through June, and the driest month is February. Some of the water close by flows, like East Branch Poplar Creek, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Fox River Trail.

Fox River
 | 13 miles away While there is limited whitewater, the Fox River has many put ins and take outs from just south of Elgin all the way to just north of the confluence of the Fox and the Illinois River. There are miles of quiet country scenery on the section of the river from Yorkville south (about 15 miles) There is an outfitter at the dam in Yorkville (Freeman's Sports)who rents canoes by the day and will provide shuttle service. There are sandstone cliffs near Sheridan. There are campgrounds along the river south of Yorkville for those who want to spend more than one day on the river. Be sure to be aware of where the dams are, they are dangerous. There are no dams south of Yorkville except the Dayton Dam which is a hydroelectric dam that prevents passage beyond Wedron.... |

Luscious theme park sized soil undulations caused by the glacier! Interesting gravel. You sense the deer watching you. About an hour around if you are walking for fitness. Avoid only when icy.
