| | The Big Four Lake was built and owned by the Big Four Railroad. Water from the lake was used in their Steam Locomotives. It was a very popular fishing and swimming lake especially for the residents of Schram City, Illinois. Unfortunately when the steam locomotives were replaced by diesel locomotives, Union Pacific Railroad. who had bought out the Big Four, sold the lake and the surrounding property to a real estate developer who drained the lake.
