Big Four Reservoir

 
 The Big Four Lake was built and owned by the Big Four Railroad. Water from the lake was used in their Steam Locomotives. It was a very popular fishing and swimming lake especially for the residents of Schram City, Illinois. Unfortunately when the steam locomotives were replaced by diesel locomotives, Union Pacific Railroad. who had bought out the Big Four, sold the lake and the surrounding property to a real estate developer who drained the lake. It remains drained
    today, gone forever. Says James a Beck

Head out on the scenic water at Lake Glenn Shoals Marina. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Big Four Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Sherwood Forest Campground.
