There's always Belford Lake Dam to have a look at close to Belford Lake; on a good day you can take a hike along the River to River Trail. A good site for whitewater paddling in close proximity to Belford Lake is Little Grassy Creek; after a long day outdoors Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Marion, IL is a pleasant location to spend a night or two. All through the summertime at Belford Lake highs are usually in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures

| | are in the 60's. Through the winter highs are frequently in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Belford Lake are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
This lake is so wonderful. There are other locations here than Belford Lake, for example Knights of Pythias Lake. time. Why not spend some time golfing at a close by golf course like Shawnee Golf Club, and you'll probably meet some people from Marion-Herrin here. There's some flowing water close by, Little Cana Creek is a stream you can pop by
while here. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Belford Lake has to offer, you can camp at Buck Ridge Campground.
Lakes are such calm sites, why not visit Marion Country Club Lake right next door to Belford Lake,
and a splendid close by hotel is Drury Inn Marion. Belford Lake gets lots of water; March is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is January.

 | Buck Ridge Campground was closed in 2007 and I'm very upset to see that happen. The area is depressed and could really benefit from this wonderful campground. You can still hike in but we will miss our trips and the wonderful memories that awaited us. I'm truly upset about this loss. The park is gorgeous. I hope to see an outpouring of requests to reopen this national treasure.... |
