Payette River - North Fork
Are there any guided rafting trips on this stretch of the river??...Don`t forget the take out is just south of the old sheep bridge in Smiths Ferry where you can park your car in a park like setting. Rest rooms are clean and a nice place to unwind after great day of paddling....
Wilson Creek Trail
12 miles away I didn't hike this trail myself but someone in our party met us in middle fork by this route, they said the trail fizzles out half way down because it was too close to the stream and the flash floods have washed it out. They did however state that if you are looking for bear that is very possible to locate since they ran into two different ones feeding near the stream. The trail is more like a rock trail as you get nearer to the Middle fork. Seems sad to think about it now since we are only 50 years away from the time that folks were packing in and farming on the alluvial grades of the middle fork....
Blackmare Lake
17 miles away The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand. The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ...
Kennally Creek Trail
19 miles away I love the Kennally Creek area and have camped at the Kennally Creek Campground for over thirty years. I have never done much hiking but have found I really enjoy it. I am having a family reunion next summer and some of the members are hikers, fisherman, horse back riders--just ourtdoors people in general. I saw on the map at the campground that there are several lakes up the trail and was wondering what lakes are accessible from trails--in particular, Nick Lake, as well as others. Any information you could provide would be wonderful! ...
Crouch Merc Trailer and RV Park
19 miles away 1 PHOTO Having stayed 2 full months in the Crouch Merc Trailer and RV Park, I highly recomend this for a summer stay. You'll be right on the bank of the middle fork of the Payette River. On the 4th of July, you'll have the best view of the fireworks display, which is in the park across the river. Great people, great small town attitudes, everyone makes you feel welcome. Float the river, guided horse back tours, outdoor theatre with an old fashioned wagon ride, live music, lots of fun. All you need is right in town. Come enjoy for a weekend, what we live with year 'round!...
