This lake is so wonderful. There are tremendous places to explore along the Yuba River Trail. I can't stop, cause I'm havin' a glorious time here at Vernon Lake. Glens Peak can be made out from Vernon Lake, and dry warm beds await you at Jerry's Country Store. The Sawtooth Range scenery is always beautiful. This site, the Sawtooth Range, has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. If you came for an overnight stay Smoky       Bear Campground is a nice site to camp, naturally you could also explore Ardeth Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Vernon Lake gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; during January this area sees the most snow while July is commonly the driest month. So many enjoyable things to do in the Sawtooth Range, not enough time. Vernon Lake sits in the shade of the Sawtooth Range, and if you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling                  on Salmon River. For the period of the months of summer at Vernon Lake temperatures are usually in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. For the period of the winter the highs are usually in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Vernon Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Alturas Inlet Campground while you're here at Vernon Lake, and going for a hike on the Yellow Belly Trail is always a pleasant adventure. There is a great hiking trail in the vicinity of Vernon Lake called the Bull Moose Trail, and you can hit the slopes at Soldier Mountain Ski Resort in close proximity.
