This lake is so wonderful. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! The Sawtooth Range is unbeatable! On a gorgeous day you obtain a sight of The Arrowhead from Upper Cramer Lake; on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the Yellow Belly Trail. So many fun things to do here at Upper Cramer Lake, too delightful to be true. Heyburn Mountain Campground is a wonderful local campground, and get your heart beating on the brilliant whitewater of Salmon

| | River. Summertime at Upper Cramer Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 40's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Upper Cramer Lake through the winter mostly drop into the 10's. Not far from Upper Cramer Lake, you'll locate Lower Cramer Lake which is a stunning lake, and there's whitewater on Salmon River for all you adrenaline kick people. of outdoors entertaining things the Sawtooth Range has to offer. If you came for an overnight stay Point Campground is a great site to camp; if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Bull Moose Trail. This lake is so
wonderful. What would a place like Upper Cramer Lake be without exciting nearby characteristics like Finger Of Fate, and dry warm beds await you at Greyhawk by ResortQuest. From a rain point of view Upper Cramer Lake is a relatively normal place; during January this area sees the most snow, and July is when it's the driest.

Hell Roaring Lake
 | Hi, we (wife and I) walked into the lake the 3rd week of July 2008; we took the unmaintained road to about 200 yards from the trailhead. If you take this in lieu of the walk in, plan on a 40 minute drive to cover 5-miles; your vehicle (should be high-center 4-wd) will get scratched up from the branches adjacent to the road. The parking lot holds 6-vehicles...if you encounter another vehicle coming at you, there are very few areas where you can back into/get off the road to let the other pass; it is a 'long way' to back up on a challenging road. To get to the trail head from the parking lot, you will ford 2-branches of the river/stream (10 ? 20? across)...walk across deadfall with the aid of a walking stick...or walk thru the water...just below the knee. We walked in on a tuesday and encountered 15+ people coming/going on the path. Easy 2-mile walk, many mosquitoes...quicker coming back.... |
Elk Lake
 | Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk.... |
