Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever want to go home again. Get covered with water paddling on Panther Creek, and hiking along the South Fork Trail is splendid fun. Whitewater paddling is great on Camas Creek, and the top of Puddin Mountain is easily seen from Turquoise Lake. Skyhigh Lake is a brilliant lake close to Turquoise Lake, and you can stay the night       at Yellowjacket Campground. That right there is lots of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. At Turquoise Lake throughout the summertime highs are in the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Turquoise Lake. Turquoise Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. At Turquoise Lake you don’t see much precipitation; most of the rain falls throughout June, and February is the month with the least moisture. What a place this is for outdoors folks. Going for a hike along the Ship Island Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood.
