Turquoise Lake is a beautiful lake in the Salmon River Mountains. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors entertaining stuff the Salmon River Mountains has to offer. Paddling on Camas Creek is so much fun; the vista of scenic Puddin Mountain is wonderful. For the duration of the summertime at Turquoise Lake highs are generally in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's.       For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Turquoise Lake temperatures fall to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at Yellowjacket Campground, and not far from Turquoise Lake you'll hit upon Echo Lake which is a scenic lake. Now, you may feel that's a heap but there's even more fun stuff to do here at Turquoise Lake. Go for a hike on the Ship Island Trail, and                  soar down the rapids of Panther Creek in a kayak. Turquoise Lake gets very little precipitation; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain; the driest month is February. Having a great time in the Salmon River Mountains is painless. There are magnificent places to explore along the South Fork Trail. Lakes? Sure, Terrace Lakes is close at hand.
