The beauty of Tule Lake is reason enough to stop by. For the duration of the warm days of summer at Tule Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Tule Lake. Yeah, come up here to the Salmon River Mountains for a magnificent time. Take a side tour to Bear Creek; Warm Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Telephone Ridge Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Salmon River - South Fork offers some delightful whitewater. A typical amount of rain falls here at Tule Lake; January is when you get the most snow here; the driest month is July.

Campground, and do take a hike on the Curtis Way. Tule Lake is located in the Salmon River Mountains.

The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ... |
