Good hiking is available along the English Point National Recreation Trail. Be careful coming to Thompson Lake, you might not ever want to go home again. You might want to pay a visit to Bell Canyon since you're here at Thompson Lake, and you don’t have to go far from Thompson Lake to catch a glimpse of the water at Thompson Lake Dam. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Thompson Lake is great fun, Heyburn       State Park is a great local campground; Coeur dAlene Resort City Inn is a nice site to get some rest. For the period of the summertime highs here at Thompson Lake get into the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Thompson Lake are in the 20's. Go for a hike on the Caribou Ridge National Recreation Trail, and lots of people from Coeur                  d'Alene come here. Thompson Creek flows through this region, and not far from Thompson Lake you'll discover Anderson Lake which is a stunning lake. The amount of rain that falls at Thompson Lake is close to the national average; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow; July is when it's the driest.
