If the weather is splendid here at Summit Lake, you can go for a hike along the Buckhorn Trail; Summit Lake is a splendid spot to visit for more than one day, Lake Fork Campground is a splendid spot to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Salmon River - South Fork;

There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber.
