A day on the slopes of Brundage Mountain is just what you need, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Salmon River - South Fork. This lake is so wonderful. A wonderful lake like Blue Lake next to Steamboat Lake is a splendid location to pop by, and Chinook Campground is a perfect local campground. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Secesh River, and on a fine day you can take a hike along the South Fork Sheep
   Creek Trail.
This lake is located in the wonderful Salmon River Mountains. Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a fine time here at Steamboat Lake. Lakes are such peaceful locations, why not visit Bear Lake near Steamboat Lake, and nearby you hit upon the Camp Creek Cutoff Trail which is a delightful hiking trail. Steamboat Lake gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; the month with most of the snow is January, and the driest month of the year is July.

Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Salmon River Mountains. There is a magnificent hiking trail close to Steamboat Lake called the Indian Ridge Trail. But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains. A pleasant trip to Little Pony Meadows is a great way to spend an afternoon; Steamboat Lake is a nice location to visit for more than one day, Krassel Creek Campground is a nice location to camp nearby. Miners Peak Trail
14 miles away
The trail has not been maintained. I was able to hike it easily to the top 2 or 3 years ago. Not today...It was overgrown a lot and substantial deadfall. There are some burned spots also. That said, it's beautiful and a rigorous hike. Wear pants as the twigs will scratch you, and take insect repellant. Check your body for ticks also. The lookout is cool....

Kennally Creek Trail
18 miles away
I love the Kennally Creek area and have camped at the Kennally Creek Campground for over thirty years.  I have never done much hiking but have found I really enjoy it.  I am having a family reunion next summer and some of the members are hikers, fisherman, horse back riders--just ourtdoors people in general.  I saw on the map at the campground that there are several lakes up the trail and was wondering what lakes are accessible from trails--in particular, Nick Lake, as well as others.  Any information you could provide would be wonderful! ...
