In Idaho there are many beautiful lakes, Steamboat Lake is one of them. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains. You can run the rapids of Secesh River close to Steamboat Lake, and picturesque scenery and good skiing is what you obtain at Brundage Mountain. So much amusing stuff to do here in the Salmon River Mountains, too nice to be true. Stay the night at Krassel Creek Campground, and a pleasant tour to Little Pony Meadows

| | is a good way to spend an afternoon. This is a splendid area for folks who like lakes. Bear Lake is a lake close at hand; the South Fork Sheep Creek Trail offers hiking at its best. So much entertaining stuff to do at Steamboat Lake, so little time. Take a hike on the Camp Creek Cutoff Trail, and a nice place for whitewater paddling is Salmon River - South Fork. be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Blue Lake. Steamboat Lake gets a typical amount of annual precipitation; January is the wettest month with most snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is
so wonderful. Chinook Campground is a good campground nearby; why not take a refreshing hike along the Indian Ridge Trail. All through the summer months at Steamboat Lake temperatures are generally in the 70's while overnight lows
are generally in the 30's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows through the winter for Steamboat Lake tend to be in the 0's.

 | 14 miles away The trail has not been maintained. I was able to hike it easily to the top 2 or 3 years ago. Not today...It was overgrown a lot and substantial deadfall. There are some burned spots also. That said, it's beautiful and a rigorous hike. Wear pants as the twigs will scratch you, and take insect repellant. Check your body for ticks also. The lookout is cool.... |
