And that's not everything you can do here in the Clearwater Mountains. Whitewater paddling is splendid on Clearwater River - Little North Fork, and you can hit the slopes at Lookout Pass in the vicinity. Steamboat Lake is a beautiful lake in the Clearwater Mountains. From a rainfall point of view Steamboat Lake is a rather normal place; the wettest month of the year is regularly January, that's       the one that snows the most, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon is so much fun; if you came for an overnight stay Little North Fork Campground is a wonderful place to camp. The warmest time of the year at Steamboat Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime                  are normally in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Steamboat Lake. The summit of Barren Hill can be distinguished from Steamboat Lake, and camping is available at Twin Creek Campground. Just can't get enough of the Clearwater Mountains. Some of the water close by flows, like White Gravel Creek, and if the weather is fine, you can go for a hike along the Nelson Peak Trail. Be careful coming to Steamboat Lake, you might not ever wanna return home again.
