The Clearwater Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Summertime highs at Square Mountain Lake frequently tend to be in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Square Mountain Lake night low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's. wonderful. Soar down the rapids of Clearwater River - South Fork in a kayak, and from Square Mountain Lake you acquire a splendid vista of Sheep Mountain. Not much precipitation falls here at Square Mountain Lake; May is the wettest
month with most rain while February is frequently the driest month. Lakes? Sure, Moores Lake is close at hand, and paddling on Clearwater River - South Fork is so much fun.

 | 16 miles away I have been to fish lake numerous times. Follow Buffalo Hump rd from Oregrande summit, down to Lake Creek. There follow Lake Creek trail about 3 miles or less to Fish Lake. This route is Calender Canyon. An easy walk. Not steep. Beautiful scenery, and when you get to Fish Lake, don't be surprised to see Moose. I have seen 6 at a time on the lake. A special place to me, as I and my late wife used to go there.... |
