What would winter be without some skiing at Brundage Mountain, and hiking along the Blue Bunch Trail is splendid fun. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a fine time here at Soldier Lakes. While you're here at Soldier Lakes, you could also go to charming Iris Lake; get dripping wet paddling on Marsh Creek. Soldier Lakes is one of the lakes here in the Sawtooth Range.  | Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's.... |
