    The beauty of Smith Lake is reason enough to stop by. Take a hike on the Rutledge Creek Trail; camping at Smith Lake Campground is always a pleasant experience. You don’t have to go far from Smith Lake to catch a glimpse of the water at Nixon Number One Dam, and do stop at Templeman Lake, it's a beautiful lake. Visit Fern Creek while you're here at Smith Lake, and playing golf is lots of fun at Mirror Lake Golf Course.
This lake is so wonderful. A splendid
 
   spot to camp here at Smith Lake is Twin Rivers Canyon Resort, and there are some wonderful whitewater spots on Kootenai. After a long day outdoors Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites SANDPOINT NORTH is a fine place to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Moyie River offers some perfect whitewater; hiking along the Danquist Trail is wonderful fun.
You just can't envision the amount of outdoors exciting things
 
               the area near Smith Lake has to offer. Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Queen Mountain Trail, and swamps like Deer Lake Swamp are fun to take a look at. Summertime highs at Smith Lake frequently tend to be in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Smith Lake are in the 10's. At Smith Lake you don’t see much rainfall; during November this area sees the most rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
Best Western Kootenai River Inn & Casino is a pleasant spot to get some rest, and while you're here, you could also visit picturesque Dawson Lake.

This river is unreal!!!  AMAZING 1 day eagles moose a bear see fish in the water, water falls and a pull over to check my diggers after the hole in the wall!  WOW this is hid out...

... some RV hookup supplies. Here are a couple of great hikes to add to the site:
Snowcreek Falls, Naples, Idaho. Directions: Go north from Sandpoint on Highway 95 to Naples. Turn left on the old highway 95 and go about 5 miles, passing the Deep Creek Inn. You will cross a railroad crossing, keep following the road until you see a brown Forest Service sign on the right hand side of the road. Turn left off of the old highway 95 and follow the road until it turns to dirt and forms a Y intersection. Take forest service road 402, on the left going up the hill for about 2 miles. There is no definite parking lot, just a pull out near the trail head. (I attached a picture of it). It's beautiful and about a mile hike to the lower and upper falls. Myrtle Creek/Bottleneck Lake and Snow Lake: Hefty views of the Selkirk Crest. Quite a scramble to get to the top for the views, but well worth it. Follow the Snow Creek Road (FS-402) west for about 7 miles to a point just past FS-661, the Cooks Pass Road that runs north to Myrtle Creek. Come to a gate .05 miles.
