Not much rain falls here at Smith Lake; the month with most of the rain is November while July is generally the driest month. So much fun stuff to do here at Smith Lake, too great to be true. There are some magnificent whitewater spots on Kootenai, and you can have a nice hiking adventure along the Timber Mountain Trail. But wait, there's more entertaining things to do in the Cabinet Mountains. If you get bored of Smith Lake, you could also have a look at

| | close by Gem Lake; the panorama of scenic Smith Mountain is great. Take a hike on the North Fork Trail, and there's whitewater on Yaak River for all you adrenaline kick people. Smith Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, East Fork Public Campground is a splendid local campground; since you're here you can take a hike along the East Fork Boulder Creek Trail. 20's. This lake is so wonderful. A great spot to camp here at Smith Lake is Porcupine Lake Campground, and why not a little side tour to Caribou Creek. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Best Western Kootenai River Inn Casino & Spa is a pleasant choice.
