    Why not stop by Smith Lake if you're passing through these parts. And if that's not enough there's a lot more fun stuff to do in the Cabinet Mountains. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Smith Lake has to offer, you can camp at Porcupine Lake Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the North Fork Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and the top of Smith Mountain is easily observed from Smith Lake. High  
   temperatures at Smith Lake during the summer are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Smith Lake are in the 20's.
While you're here at Smith Lake you can take a hike along the Timber Mountain Trail, and do pop by Caribou Creek while you're here at Smith Lake. So many entertaining things to do at Smith Lake, so little time. If you need a place
 
               to stay Clark Fork Lodge is a perfect choice, and Yaak River has a wonderful whitewater paddling spot nearby. Just can't get enough of the Cabinet Mountains. Stay the night at East Fork Public Campground, and Hotel Hope is a wonderful location to get some rest.
On a splendid day at Smith Lake you can take a hike along the East Fork Boulder Creek Trail; if you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Kootenai. Smith Lake gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the year is regularly November, that's the one that rains the most, and July is when it's the driest. Smith Lake is located in the Cabinet Mountains.
