During the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. During the winter highs are generally in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Shoban Lake are in the 0's. Going for a hike on the Waterfall Trail is always a glorious adventure, and       if you came for an overnight stay Yellowjacket Campground is a great place to camp. Near Shoban Lake you locate the Ship Island Trail which is a good hiking trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Panther Creek. Go for a hike on the South Fork Trail, and the landscape is dominated by the Bighorn Crags. Shoban                  Lake is mostly a reasonably dried out place; the wettest month of the year is usually June, that's the one that rains the most, and February is when it's the driest. This spot is unbeatable, just look at all the amusing things to do next to Shoban Lake. Crags Campground is a delightful local campground, and glide down the rapids of Camas Creek in a kayak. Having a nice time in the Salmon River Mountains is uncomplicated. You'll locate a picturesque lake called Sheepeater Lake near Shoban Lake.
