Be careful coming to the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again. This lake is so wonderful. The peak of Aggipah Mountain can be spotted from Ship Island Lake, and close by you find the Waterfall Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. A lake close by is Terrace Lakes; the South Fork Trail is a magnificent hiking trail close by. Ship Island Lake is a location that is relatively dried out       regularly; throughout June this area sees the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Parrot Placer Campground is a fine local campground, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Monumental Creek. No way I can stop, cause I'm havin' a brilliant time here at Ship Island Lake. Ship Island Lake is a brilliant place to visit for more than one day, Papoose Creek Campground is a brilliant place to camp nearby, and get wet paddling                  on Camas Creek. Yeah, come up here to the Salmon River Mountains for a magnificent time. You could also explore Airplane Lake since you're here at Ship Island Lake; it's close by, and if the weather is wonderful, you can go for a hike along the Ship Island Trail. The Salmon River Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Through the months of summer here at Ship Island Lake, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's.
