    If you are in Valley county it's always a good idea to stop by Sheepherder Lake. There are great places to discover along the Switchback Trail, and if you come at the right time of year, Deadwood River offers some wonderful whitewater. Just can't get enough of the Salmon River Mountains. Go for a hike on the Bull Creek Trail; Sheepherder Lake is a perfect spot to visit for more than one day, Blue Point Campground is a perfect spot to camp nearby.
Summertime
 
   at Sheepherder Lake comes with high temperatures in the 90's with nighttime lows in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 30's, and after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Sheepherder Lake dip into the 10's. At Sheepherder Lake you don’t see much precipitation; throughout January this area sees the most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Just can't get enough of Sheepherder Lake. Some  
               of the water close by flows, like East Fork Deadwood River, and Ashley Inn is a perfect site to get some rest.
The Salmon River Mountains scenery is always beautiful. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Johnson Creek, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Brundage Mountain. And that's not all the things you can do here in the Salmon River Mountains. Going for a hike on the Rice Peak Trail is always a tremendous adventure; you can stay the night at Deer Flat Campground.
