In Idaho there are many beautiful lakes, Sheepherder Lake is one of them. This lake is located in the wonderful Salmon River Mountains. Getting to East Fork Deadwood River from Sheepherder Lake is uncomplicated, and going for a hike on the Rice Peak Trail is always a great adventure. Float down the rapids of Johnson Creek in a kayak; skiing at Brundage Mountain is one of those things you just must do.
Just can't get enough of Sheepherder Lake. Good hiking

| | is available along the Bull Creek Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Deadwood River. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 90's to Sheepherder Lake, and the night is fairly chillier of course, commonly in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Sheepherder Lake are in the 10's. has it all. A delightful spot to camp here at Sheepherder Lake is Deer Flat Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Alpine Cottage Motel.
This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Switchback Trail, and Sheepherder Lake
is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Blue Point Campground is a fine local campground. Not much precipitation falls here at Sheepherder Lake; January is the wettest month with most snow; July is the month with the least moisture. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff in the Salmon River Mountains.
