If you like lakes and you're in this part of Idaho you can check out Sheepherder Lake. The Salmon River Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Sheepherder Lake; Rice Peak Trail is a tremendous local trail; a lake close by is Rice Lake. | | the streams nearby that might be worth checking out. Throughout the days of summer at Sheepherder Lake highs are ordinarily in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 30's; night lows at Sheepherder Lake during the winter mostly fall into the 10's. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff to do are really bountiful here at Sheepherder Lake. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Deadwood River, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Switchback Trail. This lake is so wonderful.
This lake is so wonderful. Sheepherder Lake is not the only location nearby, Long Lake is a nearby lake; why not camp at Deer Flat Campground while you're here at Sheepherder Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Ashley Inn, and camping is available at Blue Point Campground.
