    Many people like to go to Ruffneck Lake. Ruffneck Lake is a beautiful lake in the Sawtooth Range. All the outdoors entertaining stuff in the Sawtooth Range will keep you coming back repeatedly. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Marsh Creek; lakes are such peaceful places, why not go to Langer Lake. Yeah, come up here to the Sawtooth Range for a delightful time.
A common amount of precipitation falls here at Ruffneck Lake; the month with most of the
 
   snow is January while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Ruffneck Lake. Near Ruffneck Lake you stumble on the Blue Bunch Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Rapid River. Going for a hike on the Prospect Creek Trail is always a brilliant adventure; Island Lake is a brilliant lake  
               nearby.
Through the warm days of summer here at Ruffneck Lake, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. During the moonlight hours it's typically in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and night lows all through the winter for Ruffneck Lake tend to be in the 10's. Ruffneck Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Lola Creek Campground is a pleasant local campground, and a perfect panorama of beautiful Langer Peak is available. This lake is so wonderful. A delightful place to camp here at Ruffneck Lake is Thatcher Creek Campground, and the Bear Valley Creek Trail is a good hiking trail close by.

Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's....
