    If you are in Custer county it's always a good idea to stop by Rocky Lake. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Lola Creek Campground is a perfect spot to camp, and Rocky Lake is not the only place close by, Ruffneck Lake is a close by lake. A common amount of rainfall falls here at Rocky Lake; the month with most of the snow is January; the driest month of the year is July. You imagine that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Going for  
   a hike on the Blue Bunch Trail is always a tremendous adventure, and there are good places to discover along the Prospect Creek Trail.
Thatcher Creek Campground is a splendid campground nearby, and if you come at the right time of year, Rapid River offers some splendid whitewater. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Sawtooth Range. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Marsh Creek; nearby you find the Bear Valley Creek Trail which is a brilliant
 
               hiking trail. At Rocky Lake through the summer months highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Rocky Lake temperatures drop to the 10's.
Rocky Lake is located in the Sawtooth Range. You can make out Langer Peak from Rocky Lake; a lake close by is Langer Lake. Yep, outdoors enjoyable things truly is bountiful here in the Sawtooth Range.

Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's....
