     This lake is located in the wonderful Sawtooth Range. Rocky Lake is not the only place close by, Ruffneck Lake is a close by lake, and going for a hike on the Prospect Creek Trail is always a perfect adventure. Just can't get enough of the Sawtooth Range. Langer Peak is a peak you can catch a glimpse of from Rocky Lake, and a great site to camp here at Rocky Lake is Lola Creek Campground.
This is no site for people who don’t like to enjoy themselves. On a
 
   delightful day at Rocky Lake you can take a hike along the Bear Valley Creek Trail, and if you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Marsh Creek. There is a perfect hiking trail right next door to Rocky Lake called the Blue Bunch Trail, and whitewater paddling is great on Rapid River. This lake is so wonderful. A lake close by is Langer Lake, and camping is available at Thatcher Creek Campground.
And if that's not enough
 
               there's lots more amusing things to do in the Sawtooth Range. Rocky Lake gets a common amount of annual rainfall; all through the month of January you get the most snow around here, and July is when it's the driest. All through the summertime here at Rocky Lake, high temperatures generally reach the 80's. Throughout the moonlight hours it's ordinarily in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are mostly in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at Rocky Lake.

Moderate uphill hike..couple of miles from road; classic rock wall mountain behind lake; nice place to backpack into..day trip or camp overnite; some wild life; hiked in here in summer and early spring when 1 - 2' of snow on ground (and melt was rushing down mountain side beneath snow...flowers growing in ground beneath crystal clear runoff (beneath snow...quite a site).Didn't catch any fish during August trips. Last time I was in there was the 1970's....
