    It's always fun to stop by Rock Lake. Rock Lake is a beautiful lake in the Salmon River Mountains. At Rock Lake you can catch a glimpse of Savage Point, and tremendous skiing awaits you at Brundage Mountain. Having a tremendous time at Rock Lake is trouble-free. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Rock Lake; Indian Ridge Trail is a fine local trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Shiefer Campground is a wonderful site to camp.
For the period of
 
   the months of summer, highs regularly are in the 70's at Rock Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 30's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Rock Lake. The yearly rain here at Rock Lake is about average; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily January, that's the one that snows the most while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Be careful coming to  
               the Salmon River Mountains, you might not ever wanna go back home again. If you get bored of Rock Lake, you could also check out nearby Rock Lake, and there's fine hiking along the South Fork Sheep Creek Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. Yellow Pine Campground is a fine campground nearby; Rock Lake is not the only place close by, Profile Lake is a close by lake. Good hiking is available along the Parks Peak Trail, and if you need a spot to stay Mccall Super 8 Lodge is a great choice. That right there is a heap of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. There's whitewater on Salmon River - East Fork of South Fork for all you adrenaline people.

Miners Peak Trail

The trail has not been maintained. I was able to hike it easily to the top 2 or 3 years ago. Not today...It was overgrown a lot and substantial deadfall. There are some burned spots also. That said, it's beautiful and a rigorous hike. Wear pants as the twigs will scratch you, and take insect repellant. Check your body for ticks also. The lookout is cool....
