It's always fun to stop by Rock Lake. Rock Lake is a beautiful lake in the Salmon River Mountains. At Rock Lake you can catch a glimpse of Savage Point, and tremendous skiing awaits you at Brundage Mountain. Having a tremendous time at Rock Lake is trouble-free. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Rock Lake; Indian Ridge Trail is a fine local trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Shiefer Campground is a wonderful site to camp.

wonderful. Yellow Pine Campground is a fine campground nearby; Rock Lake is not the only place close by, Profile Lake is a close by lake. Good hiking is available along the Parks Peak Trail, and if you need a spot to stay Mccall Super
8 Lodge is a great choice. That right there is a heap of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. There's whitewater on Salmon River - East Fork of South Fork for all you adrenaline people.

The trail has not been maintained. I was able to hike it easily to the top 2 or 3 years ago. Not today...It was overgrown a lot and substantial deadfall. There are some burned spots also. That said, it's beautiful and a rigorous hike. Wear pants as the twigs will scratch you, and take insect repellant. Check your body for ticks also. The lookout is cool.... |
