Go to Rock Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Whohoo, so much entertaining stuff in one place! Rock Lake rocks! Do stop by Shirts Lake close to Rock Lake, it's a pretty lake, and Rock Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Lake Cascade State Park is a glorious local campground. But wait, there's more enjoyable things to do in the Salmon River Mountains. Lookout Peak is trouble-free to spot from Rock Lake, and close by you come across the Sheep

| | Trail which is a great hiking trail. High temperatures at Rock Lake during the summertime are in the 80's while night lows are frequently in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Rock Lake temperatures plunge to the 0's.

of Payette River - North Fork in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. Visit Bed Ground Creek if you're here at Rock Lake; you'll locate a beautiful lake called Raft Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There is a pleasant hiking trail
in close proximity to Rock Lake called the Van Wyck Sheep Trail.
Rock Lake is frequently a relatively arid spot; the month with most of the snow is December while July is typically the driest month. Ashley Inn is a great location
to get some rest; camping at Water's Edge RV Resort is always a pleasant experience. Greenfield Flat is a wonderful spot to check out, and the Wilson Creek Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains.

Wilson Creek Trail
 | I didn't hike this trail myself but someone in our party met us in middle fork by this route,they said the trail fizzles out half way down because it was too close to the stream and the flash floods have washed it out. They did however state that if you are looking for bear that is very possible to locate since they ran into two different ones feeding near the stream. The trail is more like a rock trail as you get nearer to the Middle fork. Seems sad to think about it now since we are only 50 years away from the time that folks were packing in and farming on the alluvial grades of the middle fork.... |

| Are there any guided rafting trips on this stretch of the river??...Don`t forget the take out is just south of the old sheep bridge in Smiths Ferry where you can park your car in a park like setting. Rest rooms are clean and a nice place to unwind after great day of paddling.... |

Hmmmm. According to Google Earth and Topo maps, there should be a place called Mud Lake by Dry Buck Mountain. However, all I can find is a clearing for logging. Did they cover it over? Hmmm strange.... |
