If you like skiing, you're in luck; Brundage Mountain is in the vicinity of Riordan Lake; hiking along the Indian Creek Trail is perfect fun. Having a great time in the Salmon River Mountains is easy. You can run the rapids of Salmon River - East Fork of South Fork next to Riordan Lake, and a great close by hotel       is Ashley Inn. Get your heart pumping on the magnificent whitewater of Johnson Creek, and naturally, this is a great region for folks who like lakes, Caton Lake is a lake in the vicinity. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Riordan Lake has to offer, you can camp at Ice Hole Campground, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Black Lake. This lake is so wonderful. An average                  amount of precipitation falls at Riordan Lake; during the month of January you get the most snow around here, and the driest month of the year is July. But wait, there's more fun stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains. Take a side tour to North Fork Riordan Creek, and going for a hike along the Big Chief Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. High temperatures at Riordan Lake throughout the warmest time of the year are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 30's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's with temperatures at Riordan Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights.
