to camp nearby, and do stop by Long Lake, it's a lovely lake. The Rice Peak Trail is a great hiking trail near Rice Lake; there are some splendid whitewater spots on Salmon River - South Fork. Summer at Rice Lake comes with high
temperatures in the 90's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Rice Lake overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
Get yourself into a kayak and hit Johnson Creek, and if the weather is pleasant, you can go for a hike along the Bull Creek Trail.

There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber.
