Be careful coming to the Bitterroot Range, you might not ever want to go back home again. There is a glorious hiking trail close to Ranger Lake called the Sally Ridge Trail, and a brilliant spot to camp here at Ranger Lake is Fort Lolo Hot Springs. Ranger Lake is a good place of typical rainfall; January is when you get the most snow here, and July on the other hand is the driest. A good close by hotel is Super 8 Motel - Hamilton, and let's not forget North Fork Storm Creek which is a stream that you may stumble upon while here. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Ranger Lake, and the night is quite chillier
of course, ordinarily in the 40's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's while Ranger Lake nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.

 | 14 miles away I venture up to Tag Alder every year. It is getting more and more difficult to get up there because of the new growth of trees from the fires of 2000. Once there it is beautiful lake. Another half hour hike up and you will be at the summit of the mountain. There is a nice camp area on North shore.
