     This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Ashley Inn. Now, you may assume that's lots but there's even more fun things to do here in the Salmon River Mountains. You can run the rapids of Johnson Creek in close proximity to Rainbow Lake, and a pleasant visit to Round Meadow is a tremendous way to spend an afternoon. And if that's not sufficient there's heaps more cool stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains. Johnson Creek is a tremendous whitewater  
   spot in the vicinity of Rainbow Lake, and camping at Twin Bridges Campground is always a delightful experience.
Rainbow Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains. A magnificent spot to camp here at Rainbow Lake is Trout Creek Campground, and do have a look at Shell Rock Lake, it's a striking lake. At Rainbow Lake during the summertime highs are in the 70's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 30's. Through the
 
               winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Rainbow Lake tend to be in the 0's.
From a rain point of view Rainbow Lake is a pretty typical place; most of the snow falls throughout January, and July meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Caton Lake Trail; the slopes of Brundage Mountain are so inviting noone can resist. Going for a hike on the Ditch Creek Trail is always a magnificent adventure, and while you're here, you could also have a look at picturesque Marion Lake.

Blackmare Lake

The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
