This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Ashley Inn. Now, you may assume that's lots but there's even more fun things to do here in the Salmon River Mountains. You can run the rapids of Johnson Creek in close proximity to Rainbow Lake, and a pleasant visit to Round Meadow is a tremendous way to spend an afternoon. and July meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Caton Lake Trail; the slopes of Brundage Mountain are so inviting noone can resist. Going for a hike on the Ditch Creek Trail is always a magnificent

 | 15 miles away The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
