Go to Rainbow Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Yep, outdoors exciting things truly is bountiful here in the Salmon River Mountains. There are some brilliant whitewater spots on Johnson Creek, and if you get bored of Rainbow Lake you could also check out close by Marion Lake. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Rainbow Lake; Ditch Creek Trail is a glorious local trail, and Ashley Inn is a delightful spot to get some rest. You'll wish for more hours

| | in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things at Rainbow Lake. Camping is available at Trout Creek Campground, and Log Mountain is easy to spot from Rainbow Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Johnson Creek; do take a hike on the Log Mountain Trail. From a precipitation point of view Rainbow Lake is a pretty normal place; January is when you get the most snow here, and July is when it's the driest. A nice place to camp here at | |

Rainbow Lake is Twin Bridges Campground, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Caton Lake Trail. If you want a glorious time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Salmon River Mountains. Very wonderful scenery and
brilliant skiing is what you get at Brundage Mountain, and Shell Rock Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains. High temperatures at Rainbow Lake all through
the summer are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 30's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Rainbow Lake are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Round Meadow is a good location to check out.

 | 15 miles away The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
