There are some glorious whitewater spots on Clearwater River - South Fork. Lakes? Sure, Wildhorse Lake is in the neighborhood. An average amount of precipitation falls at Rainbow Lake; January is the month that gets the most snow; the driest month is July. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Clearwater Mountains. Have a nice hiking adventure       along the Pilot Knob Trail, and Fish Lake is a nice lake close by. So much fun stuff in the Clearwater Mountains, just remarkable. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Rainbow Lake has to offer, you can camp at Orogrande Summit Campground. Summertime highs at Rainbow Lake typically tend to be in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 40's. During the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 30's with temperatures at Rainbow Lake                  dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. Rainbow Lake is right by the Reed Bar Trail, and you can stay the night at Wildhorse Lake Campground. This lake is so wonderful. A quick trip to Kelly Creek next to Rainbow Lake is a magnificent idea, and after a long day outdoors SUPER 8 MOTEL - GRANGEVILLE is a good spot to spend a night or two. Take a hike on the Nellie Mountain Trail, and the top of Orogrande Summit is easily seen from Rainbow Lake.
