Sure, Champion Lakes is just a very short distance away. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. If you came for an overnight stay Smoky Bear Campground is a great site to camp; don't leave Rainbow Lake without first going for a hike along the Bull Moose Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There are good places to look at along the Yellow       Belly Trail, and Salmon River has a nice whitewater paddling spot close by. Paddling on Salmon River is so much fun; you're almost certainly keen on lakes, Heart Lake is one of those nearby. Alturas Inlet Campground is a splendid local campground, and don't forget to take a perfect little visit to South Fork Champion Creek. Sun Valley is a great local ski area. At Rainbow Lake you don’t see much precipitation; December is when you get the most snow here while                  July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the warmest time of the year at Rainbow Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 30's.
