    If you are in Valley county it's always a good idea to stop by Profile Lake. That right there is a load of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. Going for a hike along the Parks Peak Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and whitewater paddling is magnificent on Johnson Creek. Profile Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; most of the snow falls through January while July is usually the driest month.  
   Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Profile Lake with overnight lows in the 30's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; nighttime lows in the 0's for Profile Lake.
You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Salmon River Mountains. If the weather is tremendous here at Profile Lake, you can go for a hike along the South Fork Sheep Creek Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Golden Gate Campground is a
 
               great site to camp. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the neighborhood of Profile Lake. The panorama of picturesque Big Creek Point near Profile Lake is great, and camping is available at Yellow Pine Campground.
Profile Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. The Caton Lake Trail is a glorious hiking trail close to Profile Lake, and the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Brundage Mountain. If you need a place to stay Prospector Lodge & Cabins is a great choice, and Salmon River - East Fork of South Fork has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby.
