In Idaho there are many beautiful lakes, Profile Lake is one of them. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Sawtooth Range. Lakes are great; Upper Cramer Lake is a lake that's in the vicinity of Profile Lake, and get soaked paddling on Salmon River. There is a perfect hiking trail in the vicinity of Profile Lake called the Yellow Belly Trail, and you can stay the night at Point Campground. For the period of the summertime months at Profile Lake

| | highs are mostly in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter the highs are commonly in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Profile Lake dip into the 10's. be seen from Profile Lake, and there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Soldier Mountain Ski Resort. Profile Lake beyond doubt is in the middle of a wonderful outdoors paradise. There's so much to do here at Profile
Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Heyburn Mountain Campground is a good spot for that, and not far from Profile Lake you'll come across Middle Cramer Lake which is a scenic lake. Profile Lake is a good place of typical
rainfall; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest month is July. This lake is located in the wonderful Sawtooth Range. This lake is so wonderful. Finger Of Fate is something you shouldn't miss while
you're here at Profile Lake; going for a hike on the Yuba River Trail is always a glorious adventure. This lake is so wonderful.

Hell Roaring Lake
 | Hi, we (wife and I) walked into the lake the 3rd week of July 2008; we took the unmaintained road to about 200 yards from the trailhead. If you take this in lieu of the walk in, plan on a 40 minute drive to cover 5-miles; your vehicle (should be high-center 4-wd) will get scratched up from the branches adjacent to the road. The parking lot holds 6-vehicles...if you encounter another vehicle coming at you, there are very few areas where you can back into/get off the road to let the other pass; it is a 'long way' to back up on a challenging road. To get to the trail head from the parking lot, you will ford 2-branches of the river/stream (10 ? 20? across)...walk across deadfall with the aid of a walking stick...or walk thru the water...just below the knee. We walked in on a tuesday and encountered 15+ people coming/going on the path. Easy 2-mile walk, many mosquitoes...quicker coming back.... |
Elk Lake
 | Elk lake is approximately 12 miles from the Grandjean campground. You can not reach it by car. The trail has mild elevation gain and parallels the river during many sections. There are no designated campgrounds at elk lake however 3 spots have obvious use. Deer and elk are commonly viewed near the lake, especially in the early morning or near dusk.... |
