You have to positively dedicate some time to Big Basin while you're here at The Ponds, and you can go for a hike on the Oregon Trail - Lander Cutoff. Summertime highs at The Ponds ordinarily tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Highs through the winter are generally in the 30's while the cold winter nights at The Ponds are in the 10's. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things near       The Ponds. The Ponds is pretty arid usually; all through the month of June you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is July. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at Summit View Campground since you're here at The Ponds, and after a long day outdoors Riverside Hot Springs Inn is a delightful place to spend a night or two. Going for a hike on the Dry Valley Trail is always a perfect adventure; Harrington Peak is a peak you can observe from                  The Ponds.
