    If you are in Lemhi county it's always a good idea to stop by Plateau Lake. If you adore the outdoors, you'll like Plateau Lake. On a wonderful day at Plateau Lake you can take a hike along the Waterfall Trail, and if you came for an overnight stay Yellowjacket Campground is a perfect spot to camp. The Salmon River Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Salmon River Mountains.
Through the long summer
 
   days at Plateau Lake temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Plateau Lake temperatures sink to the 0's. While you're here at Plateau Lake, you could also visit wonderful Paragon Lake, and Rattlesnake Creek Campground is a glorious local campground. At Plateau Lake you don’t see  
               much rainfall; of all the months in a year June is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
All year is a splendid time in the Salmon River Mountains if you like the outdoors. If you come at the right time of year, Camas Creek offers some perfect whitewater; since you're here you can take a hike along the South Fork Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Alpine Lake is a nearby lake that you could stop at; from Plateau Lake you get a great vista of Puddin Mountain. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Monumental Creek; the Ship Island Trail is a splendid hiking trail close by.
