Rock Lodge Resort and Campground is a good campground here, and there are some delightful whitewater spots on Malad Big Wood River. Pioneer Dam is worth visiting since you're here, and Pioneer Reservoir is a tremendous place to camp, Sportsman River Resort is a tremendous place. Not much precipitation falls here at Pioneer Reservoir; December is the month that gets the most       snow while August is typically the driest month. High temperatures at Pioneer Reservoir all through the summer months are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. During the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Pioneer Reservoir plunge into the 0's. The top of Pioneer Butte is easily seen from Pioneer Reservoir, and if you're popping by from Mountain Home, you won't be the only one. Dry                  Creek is a brilliant local stream, and if you come at the right time of year, Snake River offers some magnificent whitewater. Any time is a magnificent time at Pioneer Reservoir if you adore the outdoors.
