You absolutely have to like Pettit Lake. Going for a hike on the Bull Moose Trail is always a wonderful adventure. It is very waterless here at Pettit Lake generally; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily December, that's the one that snows the most, and July meanwhile is the driest month. If you get bored of Pettit Lake, you could also visit close by Yellow       Belly Lake, and close by you stumble on the Yellow Belly Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail. A pleasant place to camp here at Pettit Lake is Smoky Bear Campground, and the skiing at Soldier Mountain Ski Resort is great. This lake is so wonderful. Pettit Lake Fish Barrier Dam is worth a visit since you're here; there's whitewater on Salmon River for all you thrill seekers. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Sawtooth Range. Why not camp                  at Alturas Inlet Campground if you're here at Pettit Lake, and Pettit Lake is not the only location close by, McDonald Lake is a close by lake. Summer at Pettit Lake comes with high temperatures in the 70's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 30's.
