Perkins Lake is a lake worth visiting. Yeah, come up here to the Sawtooth Range for a good time. In the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Salmon River, and a day on the slopes of Soldier Mountain Ski Resort is just what you need. Not much rainfall falls here at Perkins Lake; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow, and July is the month with the least moisture. Summertime highs at Perkins
Lake usually tend to be in the 70's; through summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with temperatures at Perkins Lake dipping down into the-10's through winter nights.
Why not camp at Alturas Inlet Campground if you're here at Perkins Lake; let's not forget West Beaver Creek which is a stream that you may encounter while you're here. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawtooth Range.

This lake is so wonderful. Looking for something close to Perkins Lake? Pettit Lake is nearby, and there is a good hiking trail nearby called the Bull Moose Trail.

Hell Roaring Lake
Hi, we (wife and I) walked into the lake the 3rd week of July 2008; we took the unmaintained road to about 200 yards from the trailhead. If you take this in lieu of the walk in, plan on a 40 minute drive to cover 5-miles; your vehicle (should be high-center 4-wd) will get scratched up from the branches adjacent to the road. The parking lot holds 6-vehicles...if you encounter another vehicle coming at you, there are very few areas where you can back into/get off the road to let the other pass; it is a 'long way' to back up on a challenging road. To get to the trail head from the parking lot, you will ford 2-branches of the river/stream (10 ? 20? across)...walk across deadfall with the aid of a walking stick...or walk thru the water...just below the knee. We walked in on a tuesday and encountered 15+ people coming/going on the path. Easy 2-mile walk, many mosquitoes...quicker coming back....
