    If you like lakes and you're in this part of Idaho you can check out Pearl Lake. Dry warm beds await you at AmericInn McCall, and Pearl Lake is right by the Box Lake Trail. Nothing beats kicking back at North Beach, and hiking along the Fall Creek Trail is good fun. Pearl Lake is generally a relatively dried up site; May is the month that gets the most rain; July is when it's the driest.
But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Salmon River Mountains.
 
   The Crestline Trail offers hiking at its best, and Teardrop Lake is a good lake nearby. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. A picturesque lake like Marge Lake close to Pearl Lake is a good location to explore; Upper Payette Lake Campground is a glorious campground nearby.
For the period of the warm months at Pearl Lake highs are typically in the 90's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are
 
               usually in the 40's while Pearl Lake nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 20's. The Salmon River Mountains scenery is always beautiful. If only every location had this much outdoors enjoyable things, what a great globe it would be. North Fork Pearl Creek flows through this vicinity; there's whitewater on Payette River - North Fork for all you adrenaline people.
Having a brilliant time in the Salmon River Mountains is uncomplicated. If you came for an overnight stay Upper Payette Campground is a tremendous place to camp, and if you need a spot to stay Mccall Super 8 Lodge is a good choice.

The trail has not been maintained. I was able to hike it easily to the top 2 or 3 years ago. Not today...It was overgrown a lot and substantial deadfall. There are some burned spots also. That said, it's beautiful and a rigorous hike. Wear pants as the twigs will scratch you, and take insect repellant. Check your body for ticks also. The lookout is cool....

The trail to Blackmare Lake is in very poor shape. The fire last year weakened the trees and the wind took down many of them. There are several 24-36' logs across the trail preventing horse travel. Hikers can make the trek, but expect to be climbing over a lot of down timber. The trails themselves are not terrible, but they are very loose with decomposed granite sand.
The other big problem with the trail is that past the signs at the first bridge, there is absolutely no direction as to where the trails will take you or how far you are along the trails. ...
