This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Papoose Creek Campground is always a great experience, and there is a great hiking trail nearby called the Black Butte Trail. Papoose Lake is a good site of typical rain; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow, and July is the month with the least moisture. Whitewater paddling is great on Big Creek; a nice place to camp here at Papoose Lake is Elk Bar Campground.       There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Salmon River Mountains. If you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Monumental Creek, and the Coyote Springs Trail is a tremendous hiking trail nearby. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this location. Coyote Spring is always fun to check out, and if you get bored of Papoose Lake you could also take a look at close by Twin Lakes. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Salmon                  River Mountains, not sufficient time. Farrow Mountain can be seen from Papoose Lake, and on a good day you can take a hike along the Farrow Mountain Trail. Papoose Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Papoose Lake, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 30's.
