That right there is heaps already, but it goes on; Papoose Lake has it all. You're possibly hooked on lakes, Twin Lakes is one of those close by; get your heart pumping on the glorious whitewater of Big Creek. Papoose Lake is a good spot of normal precipitation; January is the wettest month with most snow; July is the month with the least moisture. Lakes are tremendous; Cottonwood Lake is a lake that's near Papoose Lake, and       whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Monumental Creek. And that's not everything there is to do here in the Salmon River Mountains. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Papoose Lake has to offer, you can camp at Papoose Creek Campground It's always magnificent to visit Coyote Spring. This lake is one of the great places here in the Salmon River Mountains. All through the long summer days at Papoose                  Lake highs are typically in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Papoose Lake temperatures plunge to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Papoose Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Elk Bar Campground is a fine place for that, and don't leave Papoose Lake without first going for a hike along the Black Butte Trail. Just can't get enough of the Salmon River Mountains. There are glorious places to discover along the Farrow Mountain Trail.
