If you don't mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Monumental Creek, and do take a hike on the Farrow Mountain Trail. From a rain point of view Papoose Lake is a reasonably normal location; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest of the months is July. High temperatures at Papoose Lake throughout the summer months are in the       70's, and through the night it cools down to the 30's. Throughout the winter highs are regularly in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Papoose Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Black Butte Trail, and whitewater paddling is glorious on Big Creek. You absolutely must fancy Papoose Lake. Don't leave Papoose Lake without first paying a visit to Coyote Spring, and a lake nearby is Basin Lake. So much                  cool stuff in the Salmon River Mountains, just extraordinary. Hiking along the Coyote Springs Trail is magnificent fun. Camping at Elk Bar Campground is always a delightful experience, and Stoddard Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Salmon River Mountains. If the weather is pretty, you get a magnificent view of Farrow Mountain from Papoose Lake; if you came to camp Papoose Creek Campground is a wonderful location to do that.
