It's always fun to stop by Opal Lake. Blowfly Campground is a pleasant campground here, and get covered with water paddling on Salmon River. Near Opal Lake you locate the Birch Creek Trail which is a delightful hiking trail, and float down the rapids of Panther Creek in a kayak. Opal Lake is located in the Salmon River Mountains.
You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the Salmon River Mountains has to offer. There is a nice hiking trail

| | close to Opal Lake called the Twin Buttes Trail, and camping at Opal Lake is brilliant fun, Iron Lake Campground is a brilliant local campground. All through the summer at Opal Lake highs are mostly in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Opal Lake. This lake is so wonderful. At Opal Lake you don’t see much rainfall; most of the rain falls throughout June, and the driest month is February. This place, Opal Lake, it absolutely has so much outdoors entertaining stuff.
