paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend St. Joe River, and there are other sites here than Northbound Lake, for example Crag Lake. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Lookout
Pass; Northbound Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Mammouth Springs Campground is a great place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Take a side visit to Elmer Creek, and there is a great hiking trail nearby
called the Shin Point Trail. Northbound Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; January is when you get the most snow here, and July meanwhile is the driest month. If you come at the right time of year, Clearwater River - North Fork offers some tremendous whitewater, and Crag Peak is a peak you can see from Northbound Lake.

Lookout Pass
 | 25 miles away 1 PHOTO Lookout Pass is the original Idaho ski area having documented skiing and a home made rope tow in
1935. These ski adventurers would hop off the railcars at the summit and utilize a highway storage shed as a warming hut
that they nicknamed ''Buzzards Roost''. Lookout Pass has operated every winter season since 1935 and has a
reputation for legendary powder, earliest openings, and longest season in the region. Average snowfall is 400'' of light Northern Rockies snow. The ''Affordable Family Ski Area'' has recently received a major expansion approval and has initiated the first three phases of a five phase Master Development Plan.... |
