    What a nice lake Mud Lake is. Having a perfect time at Mud Lake is uncomplicated. Get your pulse rate up on the nice whitewater of Johnson Creek. There's so much to do here at Mud Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Buck Mountain Campground is a splendid place for that. There's no way anyone can get bored here in the Salmon River Mountains. Mud Lake is one of the lakes here in the Salmon River Mountains.
All through the warmest time of the year
 
   at Mud Lake highs are ordinarily in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 30's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's with temperatures at Mud Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Everybody nearby loves skiing at Brundage Mountain, and you can go for a hike on the Rock Creek Trail. So many exciting things to do in the Salmon River Mountains, not enough time. There's  
               whitewater on Johnson Creek for all you adrenaline junkies, and going for a hike on the McClure Trail is always a perfect adventure.
Getting to North Fork Sand Creek from Mud Lake is uncomplicated; don't leave Mud Lake without first going for a hike along the Burnt Log Trail. Stay the night at Pen Basin Campground, and Ashley Inn is a perfect spot to get some rest. Mud Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; January is the wettest month with most snow while July is generally the driest month.
