Go to Mud Lake if you want to go to a nice lake. Mud Lake is a beautiful lake in the Salmon River Mountains. An average amount of precipitation falls at Mud Lake; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest of the months is July. That right there is loads of fun things already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. Why not camp at Pen Basin Campground while you're here at Mud Lake, and what would winter be without

| | some skiing at Brundage Mountain. Buck Mountain Campground is a great local campground, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Mud Lake; McClure Trail is a great local trail. You can run the rapids of Johnson Creek close to Mud Lake; dry warm beds await you at Ashley Inn. This lake is so wonderful. Johnson Creek is a great whitewater spot right next door to Mud Lake, and North Fork Sand Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking | |

lake is so wonderful. For the duration of the months of summer here at Mud Lake, high temperatures generally get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 30's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Mud Lake temperatures plunge to the 0's.
