Why not stop by Mud Lake if you're passing through these parts. Mud Lake is a beautiful lake in the Clearwater Mountains. The amount of rainfall that falls at Mud Lake is close to the national average; January is when you get the most snow here; the driest of the months is July. Going for a hike on the Meadow Creek National Recreation Trail is always a nice adventure, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always go to nearby Lottie Lake.

| | High temperatures at Mud Lake through the summertime months are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 30's with temperatures at Mud Lake dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. And that's not everything you can do here in the Clearwater Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Mud Lake it's a delightful idea to visit Old Man Meadows; get yourself into a kayak and hit Fish Creek. So many enjoyable things in the Clearwater
Mountains, just impressive. If you came for an overnight stay Race Creek Campground is a pleasant site to camp; soar down the rapids of Lochsa River in a kayak. Near Mud Lake you stumble on the East Boyd Glover Roundtop National Recreation
Trail which is a great hiking trail, and one of the governing features of the surroundings of Mud Lake is Stanley Butte.
