Paris Creek flows through this neighborhood, and Mud Lake is not the only site nearby, Bear Lake is a nearby lake. The Bloomington Lake Trail offers hiking at its best, and Mud Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Cedars and Shade Campground is a great place to camp nearby. At Mud Lake throughout the warmest time of the year highs are in the 80's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the winter

| | are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Mud Lake. Don't leave Mud Lake without first going for a hike along the Midland Trail; you can stay the night at Montpelier Creek KOA. Mud Lake gets very little precipitation; the wettest month of the year is generally June, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month is July. This lake is so wonderful.  | 17 miles away The Limber Pine trail is more of a nature walk than a hike. It's good for kids and those seeking an easy, short trail. Educational posting about flora, etc. are included around this loop trail. It's fun, too, even if you are a serious hiker. I think I could complete the loop in 15 minutes, but one posting I saw said 45 minutes. Walk it and find out. Easy access right off the road.... |
Bloomington Lake Trail
 | 18 miles away ...oomington Canyon on the West Side of the Bear Lake Valley. The canyon road is accessed off of Highway 89 in the community of Bloomington. It is approximately 11 miles to the top of the canyon and parking area. The road is dirt and gravel and suitable for most passenger cars. It is a short trail to the lake where you will be rewarded with a beautiful high mountain lake with high surrounding cliffs. There are many trails the lead off from the canyon and connect to other surrounding canyons. One of the more notable trails is the Highline Trail. This is an approximate 60 mile trail that runs north and south along the ridge line of the mountains. The trail can be accessed at many point including the top of Bloomington Canyon. At the parking area the road continues a bit futher west and the road turns into a trail that leads up to the ridge. Your can travel north or south with the south direction being the most spectacular The Highline Trail is popular with hikers, horses, mountain bikers, ATV's and motorcycles.
